Using the Read Aloud feature in the Outlook client

The Read Aloud feature in the Outlook client is a good way for people with vision issues to get through an email without having to visually read it. Here’s how that feature works…

To start, go to Outlook Options, select Accessibility, and make sure that the Show Read Aloud checkbox is selected:

Now when you select an email, you should see the Read Aloud icon in the Home menu:

The text of the email is then read aloud to you. Each word is highlighted as it’s read, and you have a menu bar to rewind, fast forward, stop the reading, or change the reading options:

If you click on the option for settings, you can adjust the reading speed as well as the particular voice that’s being used:
