Normally, I don’t put out a tip on an item that hasn’t hit tenants yet. But this is a “they moved my cheese” type of change, and I want to make sure you have a heads-up before it shows up in mid-December with no warning. Microsoft is making a change to the user experience in Microsoft Lists. It’s mostly a case of just moving things around (no real functionality changes), and here’s what you will likely see…
Here is what Microsoft is providing in terms of what the new list experience will look like:

Their explanation of the changes is as follows:
Microsoft is introducing a refreshed user experience for SharePoint Lists to make common actions easier to find, improve navigation, and provide greater visibility into views and active filters. The refreshed experience includes a reorganized command bar, clearer breadcrumb navigation for lists that use folders, more prominent view selection and creation, visible filter pills, and consolidated view customization options. These updates are intended to make everyday list tasks more intuitive and help users better understand and manage the information displayed in their views.
I’m hopeful that the changes, once they appear, will be easy to adapt to and won’t break anything else. 🙂 The estimated General Availability date is between the middle and end of December 2026.
