Using the Format Painter in Excel

This was a feature I never used before, but I can see where it would come in very handy at times… the Format Painter in Excel.

Here I’ve formatted a cell in Excel to look different than all the rest, and my goal is to make all the cells with the letter A use the same formatting (without having to do it manually to each one):

I selected the formatted cell, and then clicked Home > Format Painter:

Once I do that, the next cell I click will have the selected cell formatting applied to it automatically:

Even better… If I have a number of cells that need that formatting, I can double-click the Format Painter option. That will keep the formatting turned on, and each cell I click will get that formatting I selected:
