Scheduling in-person meetings in Outlook on the web

There’s a change that’s in the process of rolling out right now, and it’s pretty interesting. When creating a meeting in Outlook on the web, you can designate it as an “in-person” meeting that people should plan on being present for. RSVPing to the meeting gives you additional options to say you’ll attend in-person or virtually, so that the organizer can know how many people will be physically present. Here’s how this looks and works…

When scheduling a meeting, you have the option to make it an In-person event. Once you do that, the suggested times will show how many people will be available as well as how many people will be remote based on their workday list:

When the invitee gets an email about the meeting, they’ll see that it’s an in-person meeting both in the meeting title and in the location field. They can click on the RSVP button:

The option for accepting the meeting now allows you to designate whether you will be attending in-person or virtually:

The entry in your calendar will have the [In-person] tag in the title so that you know it’s a meeting that will be expecting a physical presence:

Finally, in the meeting each attendee who has been invited will also show whether they’ll be attending virtually or in-person:

This is a great new feature for hybrid working environments where the organizers need to have people show up physically if at all possible.
