SharePoint Online now has a Footer properties option

One of the latest updates to SharePoint Online is the addition of a Footer option in the Change The Look Settings list. It’s a nice way to have a graphical user interface (GUI) for adding and maintaining a footer in your Communication sites (it’s not currently available in Team sites), and it applies to all the pages in the site. Here’s how it works…

In your SharePoint Online Communication site, click the Gear icon in the upper-right corner and select Change The Look:

Within the Change The Look options, select Footer:

To make the footer visible on your site pages, turn the Footer Visibility option to On:

Once Footer Visibility is set to On, you’ll see the footer at the bottom of the page. You’ll also see an option to add a logo to the footer as well as putting a name in the footer:

In this screen print, I’ve added a logo and a name for my footer. Once that’s done, I click Save:

My footer work is done in the Change The Look feature. However, I can also add links and text to the footer by clicking on Edit in the lower-right corner:

When I click on the Plus icon on the left side, I get the panel to add a URL and the link text:

In this example, I’ve added a link to Bing and clicked OK:

If I click the dropdown in the Choose An Option field, I can also add plain text to the footer, such as a copyright notice:

Here are my two footer entries, one URL and one text string:

And once that’s saved, I have my finished footer!
