A work colleague pointed out a cool feature in Outlook that I didn’t know about, and that I plan on using on a few mail folders. Instead of the default setting to show the number of unread messages, you can instead show the total number of items in a folder.
Here’s a list of the folders in my Outlook client:
By default, the folders show now many unread messages I have.
To change the setting on my VariousProjects folder, I right-click on the folder name and select Properties:
The dialog box gives me the opportunity to change the setting to Show total number of items:
And now I know how many emails I’m hoarding in that folder:
