Managing the length of your Researcher agent output

When you use the Researcher agent in Microsoft Copilot, it can generate a huge amount of information. But that might be overkill for what you want. Now you get the opportunity to give some guidance on how long the report should be. Here’s how that works…

I asked for a recap of a migration project, and I was given the choice of whether it should be a short or long report:

I specified Long, and it ended up being 28 pages. I also have the option to output it directly to Word when it’s finished, which gives you a nice report to share with others:

I also ran the same prompt again with the Short setting, and it actually came in at five pages. Granted, there’s far less detail, but this may be exactly what you’re looking for.
